Easter decorating... plan in action!

So my plan developed; instead of having just the eggs in the window, why not do the whole window and the entire shop! Just like Valentine's day! Except, more toned down of course, I may have gotten a little carried away then...

My manager had no idea what I would be doing to the shop so it was certainly a surprise when she came back from her holiday!

Here is what I have done...

The changing room mirror.

 The front desk.

 The ceiling.

And lastly, the window display in all its glory!

Which is your favourite Easter egg?

Easter decoration planning, what a plan!

So, in the Mind charity shop I work in, I thought of a plan and a good plan at that... well I thought so anyway!

For fun, I printed numerous copies of 6 Easter egg designs and I left them on a small table in the shop for children to take home and colour in, then to return them to help create an Easter window.

Only half were taken and much to my annoyance, none were returned! However, the remaining eggs still needed to be coloured in so my sisters and I were more than happy to do that simply because we could!

More to come soon!

Elefun to Elefan

After finishing a crazy 3 years of uni, the last thing anyone wants to do after a manic third year is jump straight into a job! Some people of course don't have the option and are forced either by nagging parents or financial reasons. For me, I had neither so I was fortunate to take a few months off to unwind and really think about what I truly wanted to do with life.

So to retain the creative spirit, I dismantled an old toy, Elefun.

This fun loving childhood game brought smiles every time but unfortunately, its time had come. The trunk became mangled and it wouldn't blow out butterflies.

But hello to the new invention which was an absolute breeze to make! Sorry that was dreadful... say hello to Elefan, the innards of Elefun.

Not exactly much but it makes a nifty little desk fan!

And hey! It will soon be summer and time to crack out the mini but not so mini nifty little desk fan!

To my dearest Moment-eers

Hello my lovely Moment-eers! It has happened again unfortunately, something very treasured to someone I know has gone missing.

Here is a quick description:

  • A white umbrella with a hooked handle
  • On the underneath (the inside when the umbrella is open, like below), hang snowflakes
  • There are also lights attached to the inside

It was accidentally left on a Crosscountry Train at York station and has taken many hours and a considerable amount of effort to make, all for the enjoyment of someone who is too pathetic and greedy to hand it in at lost property.

So please if you find this umbrella, or you see someone with it or you spot someone selling it on ebay, etsy etc. please message me or comment on this post.

Thank you my wonderful Moment-eers!

Stitch 'n' Bitch

Working in a charity shop has many advantages, one of them being behind the scenes of a lovely welcoming shop. Round the back is where all the action happens! It's fascinating seeing all the things people no longer want, masses of donations come through the door every week and one item in a large donation was a knitting book but it was no ordinary knitting book, it was a knitting book called Stitch 'n' Bitch.

Wow what a fun and hilarious book it is! It is aimed at young people written in a manner they will truly find amusing and hopefully, engaging them in new projects with a talent that is almost lost to society. Though, it is encouraging to see more people around the same age as I wearing knitted garments they have made.

Debbie Stoller, I salute you!

I was so keen to knit something from this book, I started with something small; A phone sock, which I then adapted to have a button hole and an oversized button to make up for the little phone I have!

Then with all the odd bits of wool left over from other projects, I made a whacky neck scarf!

Such fun!
